Shovel Time, Then Saddle Time

I spent quite a bit of time liberating the drive and sidewalk from the blanket of snow which fell last night.

This afternoon, I rode the blue Trek on the trainer for two hours. I'm gradually building up time on the trainer, mixing in some high-intensity sessions.

I'm hoping this will translate to better (I.e. a bit faster) outdoor riding this year. But the bottom line is: I need as much saddle time as I can get to make some of my longer rides possible.

My iPhone makes longer rides possible. I simply download a bunch of podcasts (mostly from NPR), and ride away. I can't deny, however, there are many times I want to stop.

Happy riding!

Two hours on a trainer? I'm quite impressed with your mental strength. That must be one of the reasons you had such success last year.

Back in the day, I felt heroic if I lasted an hour. These days, I take what the weather gives me and adjust accordingly.

Nevertheless, I'm cheering you on!

I find it amusing that I posted about riding my rollers, today, then read this post...

I am with Pondero...TWO hours??!!

WOW, at that rate the miles will melt away during randonneuring rides this summer.

In all honesty, reading this post does NOT increase my motivation to look for a trainer, though I greatly respect your dedication. Tomorrow, maybe I'll wander over to the gym on my bike, sit in the sauna, listen to the iPod, and think sympathetic thoughts about Big Oak and his ambitions to kick butt randonneuring this year. Je suis salute!

Two hours is certainly at the upper end of what I can manage on the turbo...
Most of my indoor training rides are closer to the one hour level...
Hats off to you Sir...

Thanks everyone - I didn't intend to brag when I posted this. I was just wanting more saddle time. We'll see how many more times I can do this.
